Lambda Rendering
Render RVE SDK projects with Remotion Lambda
Remotion Lambda renders videos on AWS. This section is for teams that want to operate rendering in their own AWS account.
You configure AWS, write the composition that Lambda renders, and add two API routes to your application. The SDK includes a deploy() helper that deploys the Lambda function, the S3 bucket, and your composition.
Browser rendering is the default
You do not need self-managed Lambda to start with the SDK. Use browser rendering for simple exports. Use RVE Cloud Rendering for a managed production service. Add your own Lambda integration only when your team must control the AWS infrastructure.
When to Use Lambda
- You need consistent cloud rendering across browsers.
- You need to render many videos at the same time.
- You need large or long-running exports.
- You need to own the AWS account, deployment, limits, storage, and monitoring.
How It Works
- Your application sends the project data to your server.
- Your server starts a Remotion Lambda render.
- Your application checks the render progress.
- AWS stores the completed video and returns its URL.
Set Up Lambda
Follow the SDK Lambda setup guide. It explains the AWS configuration, the deploy, the API routes, and the editor connection. Then write a custom composition.
For managed rendering, see RVE Cloud Rendering. For all choices, see Choose a Rendering Method.
