We’re excited to share that React Video Editor (RVE) is now Mediabunny's first-ever bronze sponsor! 🎉

This sponsorship is about more than just a logo on a page, it’s our way of supporting a project we truly believe will change how video works on the web. Mediabunny is building tools that make video faster, more open, and far more developer-friendly.

What Is Mediabunny?

Mediabunny is a pure TypeScript media toolkit that enables reading, writing, and converting video and audio files directly in the browser.

Some defining features and capabilities include:

  • Low-level media control with high performance - it lets you access video/audio tracks, metadata, raw frame data, and more, without reading the full file when unnecessary.
  • Conversion, encoding, and decoding built-in - it supports operations like transmuxing, transcoding, resizing, rotation, trimming, and audio resampling.
  • Streaming I/O & memory efficiency - it works on large files by streaming, so you don’t have to load the whole thing into memory.
  • Tree-shakable, zero dependencies - only the bits you use get bundled.
  • Wide codec/container support - it handles MP4, WebM, WAV, MP3, among others.

Because its API is relatively low-level, it’s not a video editor by itself, but it serves as the foundational engine on which editors, players, and other media tools can be built.

Why This Matters for RVE and Web Video?

1. More power, less friction

Web developers who build video tools often struggle with bridging gaps - format parsing, performance, memory overhead, bridging WebCodecs, etc. Mediabunny abstracts much of that complexity while remaining flexible. That means downstream tools like RVE can focus on user workflows, UI, editing features, not low-level plumbing.

2. Future-proofing media on the web

By pushing media tooling toward being native-first (not ported from desktop), the web can become a more robust platform for real-time video apps. RVE wants to be part of that future - and backing the infrastructure helps align the ecosystem.

3. Synergies & shared momentum

Mediabunny is already getting adoption momentum (for instance, Remotion is combining efforts with it) - that means improvements and community contributions benefit everyone in this space, including RVE and its users.

4. Philosophical alignment

We believe in building open, composable tools - not black boxes. Supporting Mediabunny is consistent with RVE’s values of openness, performance, and community growth.

We can’t wait to see what the Mediabunny team builds next. And we’re proud to be part of their journey - not just as a name on a sponsor page, but as collaborators and believers.
